Herts Open Studio at re:create
Open Studios was a fantastic success raising not only the profile of re:create in the town but also money to help us buy equipment.
Alison Steadman and her husband Michael Elwyn came on Friday and had a wonderful time. They both joined in with all the craft activities, Alison said she wanted to come back and try her hand at making a bag in our stitch and bitch class.
Still on a high from the fun of Friday we hit the CreativiTEA. Imelda Staunton and Jim Carter could not have been better hosts. Again they joined in with our creative challenge, Jim having to be pulled off the glue gun, almost literally. Imelda entertained us with a song and Jim hosted the auction to perfection. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of all our guests, raising an extraordinary amount of money at last count it was over £5,500 exceeding all expectations.
We can now set to on our shed renovations (we have kindly been donated all the materials), sorting out the toilets! As well as buying much needed equipment and resources.
A huge thank you to all who helped the whole weekend go so well.
