Introduction to Stained Glass

Stained GlassNo classes at present

This is an introductory class for those who have no experience of working with stained glass but I welcome anyone who wishes to improve their technique.

We will spend the first hour or so developing your design and working to understand the possibilities and pleasure of working with glass. You will be encouraged to explore your very own talents in producing a unique and individual design. I like my students to do this, no matter how modest you may think your artistic talents are, rather than use someone else's templates, or, perish the thought, clip-art!

You may work with any shape you wish but approximating to A4 (12” x 8”) in area; this allows you to look at oblongs, circles, squares, or even something asymmetrical.

The rest of the day will be used to fabricate your piece, while learning the age-old art of cutting glass, leading, soldering and cementing.

There will be a wide variety of glass, both in colour and texture, to enable you to produce a panel of perfect beauty! And of course there will be an equally wide variety of students, all bonding harmoniously (!) for a most enjoyable day, with intervals naturally for tea!
